This update will provide driver and injured party information regarding yesterday’s crash.

Eastbound SUV (2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer)

Driver – Robert Getzfred, 80, Elgin NE – transported by ambulance and later life flighted with serious injury (corrected first name)

Passenger – Carole Getzfred, 78, Elgin NE – life flighted from scene with serious injury

All four minor passengers in this vehicle transported by ambulance  with no or minor injuries

Westbound pickup (2005 Ford F150 owned by Madison County)

Driver – Daniel Evans, 30, Meadow Grove NE – transported by ambulance  with minor injuries

Occupant restraints were in use by all

At about 1:15PM a crash was reported to Norfolk Dispatch involving two vehicles near the intersection of Highway 275 and 538 Road approximately 1 mile west of Meadow Grove. Preliminary information indicates that an east bound SUV crossed the centerline of the highway and struck a pickup owned by Madison County and operated by a Madison County employee. The front seat passenger of the SUV was flown by medical helicopter from the scene. Five other people, including the driver, from the SUV and lone occupant of the pickup were transported to Faith Regional by ambulance. The driver of the SUV was later flown out of Faith Regional due to his injuries.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the crash. Assisting at the scene were Meadow Grove and Battle Creek rescue departments.
