Nebraska LB77, which abolishes the need for a concealed handgun permit, is awaiting the governor’s signature. The question has already been posed about the need for a Handgun Purchase Permit once this law goes into effect.

The short answer is “Yes”, a handgun purchase permit will still be required. LB77 removes the need for a concealed carry permit not the permit to purchase as required by federal law.

Finally, under LB77 minors and persons prohibited from possessing firearms will still not be able to carry concealed handguns.
