Shortly after 6:00am on February 5, 2024, Madison County Deputies and Nebraska State Troopers responded to a 4-vehicle accident south of Madison on Highway 81 near 826 Road. The Southbound lanes were closed from the time of the accident until just before 8:00am. A vehicle driven by Candace Stickman lost control due to icy conditions and came to a stop in the southbound lanes. The first vehicle was then struck by a vehicle driven by Amy Leonard. Two more vehicles, were unable to avoid and struck the first two vehicles. A mixture of fog, freezing rain, and icy roads contributed to the accident. Drivers involved were: Driver one- Candace Stickman 37 F Driver two-Amy Leonard 40 F Driver three- Christian Appledorn 42 M Driver four- Felix Garcia 36 M One driver was transported to Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, where they are being treated for injuries.
