On the morning of December 10, 2024, between 6:30 Am to 8:30 AM Madison County Sheriff’s Office and other law enforcement, responded to seven separate vehicle accidents. The accidents were all on the eastern side of Madison County, mainly along Hwy 81 and Hwy 275. Freezing rain/snow caused roadways to rapidly become very slick this morning. The road conditions also caused numerous other vehicles to lose control and go into the ditches. Of the seven reported, five were one-vehicle rollovers. At an accident site near Madison, an occupant of the vehicle was transported to the Hospital, by Madison Fire & Rescue. No other notable injuries are known at this time. The weather conditions this morning are a simple reminder that it is time to be mindful of the weather and to slow down when bad road conditions exist. Madison County and Northeast Nebraska is just starting the winter weather and we want everyone to get to where they are going safely. So wear your seatbelts, slow down and be aware of changing road/weather conditions. Sheriff Todd Volk
