On June 21, 2025 at approximately 9:00 PM Norfolk Police Department’s Joint 911/Dispatch Center received a call from a Madison residence. The call started as a 29 YOA male who was having seizures and turned into a CPR in progress call. 911 Dispatcher Ping and the dispatching team gave life-saving instructions to the victim’s family and they began CPR. Deputy Finch and Deputy Anderson responded to the residence and upon arrival began life-saving actions. They deployed an AED and took over CPR from the victim’s family. Deputies continued to perform CPR and when Madison Rescue arrived, continued to assist. The efforts of all involved stabilized the victim’s heart and he was then transported to Faith Regional Health Services. Later communications from the victim’s family, advised that he is expected to recover. At the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, we train on a monthly basis. CPR/First Aid are just a part of that training that deal with the life-saving efforts. I would like to commend our Dispatcher’s, Deputy’s and the Madison Rescue Unit members for their actions. Their professionalism, demeanor and teamwork saved a life that day. Sheriff Volk |
