On December 9, 2025, at approximately 4;52 PM the Madison County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the intersection of 837th Rd and Highway 81 for a two-vehicle accident.

Upon arrival, Deputies discovered a vehicle in the ditch west of Highway 81 and a semi-trailer parked along the shoulder with damage to the trailer. A red Saturn Aura XE struck the back of a semi-trailer. The driver of the Saturn was life lighted from the scene, The semi driver was released from the scene with no injuries. Preliminary investigation has determined the Saturn was traveling southbound at approximately 70 mph, and the driver was distracted on her cellphone. The Saturn struck the back of the semi which was traveling the same direction on Highway 81 at approximately 55 to 60 mph.  

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Norfolk Fire and Rescue, Madison Police Department, and Nebraska State Patrol.
