On 5-30-2023 at around 10:47 AM Madison County Sheriff’s Deputies and Madison Fire and Rescue were dispatched to a farm accident at 83386 556 Ave. Madison NE. Reporting parties advised that a male subject was repairing a large tractor tire when the tire and rim exploded. The explosion caused serious blunt force injury to the man repairing it.

Deputies immediately began life saving measures upon arriving at the scene. Madison Fire and Rescue arrived a short time later and assisted with advanced life support. Life-Net was contacted and responded to the scene however the worker died from his injuries before transport could be made.

The deceased person was identified Miguel Cardenas Pena, age 38. Next of kin have been notified. The incident is still under investigation.
