Make It Click Campaign Reminds Drivers: Buckle Up Every Day. Madison, Nebraska — The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is joining the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and law enforcement agencies across the region for the national Click It or Ticket / Make It Click high-visibility seat belt enforcement campaign. The campaign will run from May 15 through May 31, 2026, during the busy Memorial Day travel period. “One of the safest choices drivers and passengers can make is to buckle up,” said Sheriff Todd Volk. “Seat belts save lives every single day, and we want everyone traveling this holiday season to make safety a priority.” During the campaign, Madison County deputies will conduct increased traffic enforcement efforts both day and night, focusing on seat belt compliance and safe driving behaviors. Sheriff Volk reminds motorists that seat belts should be worn on every trip, whether traveling across town or across the state, and in every seating position. Seat belts remain one of the best defenses against impaired, aggressive, and distracted drivers. In a crash, seat belts help keep occupants securely inside the vehicle while spreading crash forces across the strongest parts of the body. Despite increases in seat belt usage nationwide, approximately half of all passenger vehicle fatalities still involve unrestrained occupants. As Memorial Day travel begins and summer traffic increases, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office encourages all motorists to slow down, avoid distractions, drive sober, and buckle up every trip, every time.
