On May 20th, 2025, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Nebraska State Patrol and Norfolk Fire and Rescue, responded to a three vehicle injury accident at the intersection of Hwy 35 and Benjamin Ave. Initial investigation and eye witness statements show that a white Buick Encore, driven by 25 year old Cutter Anderson of Norfolk, NE was heading Northbound on Hwy 35, approaching the intersection. The other two vehicles were stopped at the intersection, just starting to go forward and turn east at the intersection. Initial investigation show Anderson was approaching the intersection approximately 60 miles per hour and did not attempt to brake, colliding with a grey GMC Terrain driven by 35 year old Christopher Andal of Norfolk. Due to Anderson’s speed, Andal’s vehicle went forward and hit the third vehicle, a maroon Mercury Sable, driven by 44 year old Oleksandr Vasylovych of Norfolk. Anderson’s vehicle caught on fire, and the fire was put out by two Nebraska State Troopers. Both Anderson and Andal’s vehicles were totaled in the accident, while Vasylovych’s vehicle had minor damage to his rear bumper. Anderson and Andal were transported by Norfolk Fire and Rescue to Norfolk Faith Regional Health Services to be treated for their injuries. Anderson was cited with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol-2nd Offense and Possession of Marijuana less than an ounce. This accident is still under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office. |
