UPDATE— As of 3:00 PM Hwy 81 south of Madison is open. It is by no means safe to travel as major winter conditions exist. We recommend staying off all the roads until advised.

January 13,2024 at 12:00….Nebraska State patrol has just shut down Hwy 81, from the Hwy 32 intersection. No vehicles are allowed to go south of the City of Madison. Visibility is NONEXISTENT! There are accidents in Platte County which is causing this.
Do NOT attempt it, dangerous conditions exist.
The southern end of Madison County is basically closed. Hwy 32 is closed/impassable too. Stay where you are!
